Good Evening Folks!

My existing GPU (an AMD Radeon HD 7770) went kerplunk, so it's time for a new one. Looking for recommendations. Specs are as follows:

Processor: 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 3.40 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.90 GHz

Dell 8500 Case: ASSEMBLY, CHASSIS, PWA INTEGRATED, 460W, 8500, POWER FACTOR CORRECTION

Hard Drives:

(1) Intel 730 Series 2.5" 480GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

(2) TOSHIBA PH3200U-1I72 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"

RAM: 24 GB (2x8gb; 2x4gb)

I mostly play The Sims 3 (which my old GPU could barely handle) and World of Warcraft. But I would like some room to grow.

I'm considering GeForce GTX 970. (Looking to spend somewhere around $250 - $300ish) However, I have zero idea how to pick among them in regards to size, brand, etc, and which is best for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Upgrade your PSU first but you will be unlikely to get a GeForce GTX 970 in that price now unless you get it used (which isn't a problem if there is a reliable seller). But if you want to get a new card, wait for NVIDIA Pascal to come out.
For the PSU, I would suggest a good EVGA 650W because that is more than enough and will be fine for the future.
Unfortunately I can't link you to a good one right now because I'm writing this on an iPad and I'm away from my computer and copying and pasting is annoying as hell.
Hope this helped.
