Best components for a truly silent PC?

So this past Christmas I got an NZXT H440 v2.0 case to make my PC more silent then the case I previously had which was basically what you get if you hollow out a giant piece of Swiss cheese and use it as a case. The case was advertised to be super quiet but I can still hear all my components/fans and they are loud as fuck. I currently use an Intel i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (Non Skylake) with a standard shit Intel cooler, an EVGA GTX 960 Super Clocked edition 4gb, and a Cougar 750 watt power supply. (I also have 32GB ram and an MSI B85-G41 PC Mate MoBo but that really doesn't matter to this issue.)

What do you guys think would be the cheapest way for me to make it quiet enough to where I can't really hear it unless I put my ear right up to it. If you guys have any specific part/kit suggestions I would love the link to where I can buy them as well.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

The cheapest way would be to set your fan speeds, for your case fan and cpu cooler you can do it in the bios and you can use EVGAs oc tool (precison x) to tweak your gpu fan curve
If you have fans on it you could get a passive cpu cooler, there isnt much you can do about gpu temps and noise unless you watercool it, which is expensive.

If you use closed loop liquid coolings it's gonna be much quieter than aftermarket cpu coolers , and also MUCH quieter than water cooling ..

the PSU matters too but to a lesser degree , my own experience if you buy a PSU with higher wattage it actually is quieter cause the fans are bigger the ones built for OC are even quieter than the latter

so all in all use liquid cooling and high watt PSU's then you can even remove your case's fans cause they don't matter much these days

your case matters too , my own cosmos II comes with a huge front fan that makes no noise at all , the top and rear 120mm fans in fact make more noise

the purpose of front and rear fans are to align the airflow with the aftermarket cpu cooler so when you use liquid cooler they are redundant , specially if you own a big enough case and don't live in florida , malaysia , indonesia or mexico

Bequiet CPU coolers I heard deliver a very silent cooling! They also made cases that are very silent however not as practical, so I would advice to stay away from them.. However take a look at what they have to offer from rubber grommets of their fans, to their CPU coolers!

Closed liquid loops are way louder than CPU fans.. Right now as I'm typing I can hear the pump making noise as it sends and receives the liquid, and everything is ofcourse closed in my case!

Yeah see mostly what I am hearing is the CPU cooler and the PSU actually. I do use Precision X for my GPU as well and I barely hear it. Even my stock case fans aren't even that loud. I may just go with a nactua CPU heatsink and find out a good silent PSU and once I do that I may be good I think.

my cooler is very very quiet , as opposed to my previous cooler master v6 tower cooler (air cooler) i used to use on my haswell , also with my haswell i had idle temperatures of above 35 degrees , with this liquid cooler i have idle temperature of no more than 26 on my skylake , you could say its skylake's 14 nm technology but i'de say the thinner it is the hotter it gets

if you lived nearby i would be more than glad to give my cooler to you cause maybe next month i 'd buy a 3 fan 360 version of the same cooler model

If you live near Tucson AZ then maybe, either that or you could somehow mail it to me since you were kind enbough to offer me the fan in the first place.

Dear Dash Agent

the mailing will cost me deerly if i wanna send it to you

But actually i was offering the gigabyte motherboard dude, to test my cooler so he can see for himself how quiet it is

But if you ever happen to visit south east iran our house is at a busy crossroad , i'de be more than glad to offer you my cooler because i'm planning to replace it in the near to distant future

Also , don't buy into the advertisement for water cooling kits , they are Not better than liquid coolers that need no assembly , infact water coolers were experimental and liquid coolers are the real thing , when i bought mine it was ice cold even when i hadn't set it up , they use something other than water in it , maybe like the car radiators ..

I'm actually living in Cyprus.. We are quite near! If you don't know where it is quickly google it and you will probably see your country at the right of mine!

Op if you get a big cooler like the noctua nhd 15 it is possible to run it fanless, you can also get cpu coolers designed to runs without a fan attached. That would get uou more silence but if you get a good aftermarlet air cooler that will be way quieter than the stock cooler anyway

at least if you plan to buy an aftermarket tower cooler don't buy the v6 from cooler master , buy something quieter , or a passive heatsink , copper is the best
