Hi,

I'm wondering if there will ever be a USB 3.1 expansion bay for PCI-e. Thunderbolt expansion bays have been readily available for a few years now (eg http://magma.com/products/thunderbolt-expansion/) however I'm hoping that in the near future we will see a migration to USB 3.1 for those people that don't have Thunderbolt ports (which as we know is only available on Macs and a few select other PCs - with no Thunderbolt PCI-e expansion cards available for those of us that don't have the port).

Thanks!

In order to pull off the expansion bay approach, you may need to make sure your motherboard has the minimum prerequisites for your proposed venture. You can take a look at this but it means that you should have a SATA Express connectivity option or an available PCI-E port on your motherboard.

Depending on your platform, I'm not quite sure if suggesting a motherboard swap would be a wise idea although it would help use steer you in the right direction if you could provide a full systems specs and iron out some doubts within us.

Here's another suggestion:
ASRock Model USB 3.1/A+C Card
which you'll need to be patient as they seem to be out of stock currently.

These are viable alternate suggestions.
