Hey everybody , I am replacing my 2x4 ( 8gb) ddr3 1333mhz ram one stick is of Samsung & one is of Corsair value with 2x8 (16gb) ddr3 1600mhz Corsair vengeance ram my motherboard is Gigabyte H81M-S2PV so my question is will I run into any comparability issues? or just plug in the new ram & boot up the computer? ( I am getting one 8gb stick right now & I'll sell the two 4gb sticks & add some money & buy another 8gb stick)

When you put in the new RAM you enter the BIOS and enable the XMP profile.

You may need to enable XMP in the BIOS to get the rated speed. That is assuming you are still using the same PC you have on your profile.

Personally I have found that when changing out RAM, I've always had to reset the BIOS for it to boot. Don't know why that is but if it doesn't boot first try, that is something to check.

You actually gain nothing from doing this if gaming is your main concern.

rendering etc, then yeah 16gb is useful, gaming? no

Can you tell me how to enable XMP? I know how to boot into bios so you're telling me if it doesn't boot with the new ram I should put in the old ram then go into bios & then enable the XMP???

I am aware of that & I also know that gaming ram is just a marking gimmick but since now days there ain't much of a difference between standard & gaming ram prices I'd like to go with the gaming one as they have better heat sinks & they look cool

I was saying if you put in the new RAM and it doesn't boot up properly you might need to reset the BIOS. This is done with a jumper or a button located on your motherboard. You will need to refer to your motherboard manual on the correct procedure.
