I purchased a HP Gen 8 G1610T server and I also purchased a 2.5" hdd to use as my boot media. Opening the box is a stressful exercise for me because I have this fear of my pc blowing up in my face.
So I carried out the following procedures:
I then reattached the power cable, usb cables and all the attached peripherals and booted it.
To my utter surprise, it booted up and after rebooting once, it began to self check and eventually logged into my copy of OMV.
The question in my ind is: Did I use the right power source? I mean can I just take any power source within a PC and split it with no consequences?
The server saw all the hard disks. All 41TB but I just worry that it can't be that straightforward.

I will really appreciate the comments from this board that I have done it right or I need to amend a procedure.

Attached a 4 pin molex splitter cable to the only one I saw near the top of the box. I could not find another one and I just can't root through all those cables.
Attached a sata cable to the spare sata port in the box.
Connected the 4 pin molex power plug back into the original socket.
Connected the now extra 4 pin molex to the 2.5" hdd drive
Connected the sata cable to the 2.5" hdd drive.
Used affa tape to tape the 2.5" hdd down until the caddy is delivered tomorrow.
I also for the fun of it attached 2 GB 10666 ram chips I had lying around the house. I expected a ..burr and pft..
