I'll keep this short.

I'm currently living in a house that does not have the installations in place to allow routers, modems, ethernet connected internet in general (don't ask...). That said, until I can move, I'm stuck using the TP-LINK Archer T4UH and using it to connect to BT Wifi, which has lackluster download speeds on the best of days. So my question is: do any of you know of any devices that are superior to the T4UH and/or ways to improve my internet speed (extra hardware, etc)?

Thanks in advance.

All BT WiFi hotspots are maximum 10Mbps which equates to a max downloading speed of 1.25MB a second, and that's the maximum when the network is not congested, not an average. In practice you'll get less than that.

Your TP-Link USB WiFi adapter is not to blame, changing it will make little or no difference, it's the nature of the hotspot technology and how it's regulated by the ISP, most of whom take the view "slow but better than nothing" (especially if they are letting you use it for free).

Oh right... I was expecting an answer like this, but I guess I was holding on to the hope that I might be wrong. Oh well, thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.
