Dear all,

I am making a new post here cause I probably posted in the wrong section and i did not receive the help I needed. So here is my original post.

I have been having problems with my new PC recently (i bought the components 4 months ago and built it myself). It froze at random occasions (eg while playing a game or while the PC was just idle) and i had to reset the motherboard in order for it to start up after that. That happened 3-4 times during a month or something. ( I am in the middle of the exams period and did not have time to investigate it. Anyway.)

Three days ago it happened again, but this time the PC would not start no matter what. However after keep trying (plugging in/out the power supply cable, reseting the moba etc) it managed to start up and showed me a black dos window informing that everything was set to teh default values and giving me 4 options : a-run set up, b-continue, c- load OC profile 1, d- load OC profile 2.
I just pressed continue and windows loaded successfully.

Today I had some issues with my headset not connecting properly and I plugged its usb out and restarted, and then the PC would not start up again. I tried a couple of times to reset the MOBA and finally it started. Then, two hours after that, while playing a game it froze again.

I bought all the parts 4 months ago and assembled it myself. MSI 5 gaming pro, 6600k, r9 380

Please, tell me what do. I do not have time for these things as I am in the middle of exams period. :(:(:(

Windows 10.
No everything seems to work fine in the device manager. I also forgot to mention that the temperatures seem to be normal in general, and I also tested the RAM and the drives and they are 100% healthy.

Hello... Typically a BSOD/Freeze/Boot problem will report a file that caused the problem... look for that.
2) Go to Computer-manage-Event viewer-Windows logs and read/report/post back the Logged error screens.
3) Are you overclocking?
4) Did you do Driver/hardware updates before the problem? try a "restore point" before the problem started.
5) what are your Computer parts and specs?

1) OK here are some copies of the reports: (the first is the last one chronologically)

"
The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
The previous system shutdown at 8:29:01 PM on ‎4/‎5/‎2016 was unexpected.
The Sync Host_367a1 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
( I hope these are the reports yous asked for)
"

2)About the OC. I tried to do it when I bought the PC, but the system became unstable so after a short while I reverted back to normal and I had not problems till 3-4 weeks ago when this problem arose. Could I have "fried" something when I tried to OC?

3)No, I did not update anything. I just bought a new headset 2 weeks ago and i do not really think that the headset causes a so severe crash.

4)Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W
Hyper x 8GB DDR4 2400Ghz
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Noctua NH-C14 CPU Cooler
R9 380

(thanks for all this step by step helping :) )

Hello... Thks for your well ordered response B )
1) There seems to be this... "Sync Host_367a1 service" "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID "
Something is trying to use a internet connection and your security settings are not allowing it? Locking the OS?... and you are just powering it down as a result. Virus/Malware? Anti-virus APP/update/broken?

2) NO... just asking about current setting for my brain to work better... B )

I would say though that there were Product re-calls and MB/CPU cracking... check with MSI and your Board, and see if you have one of the Good bad ones.

3) is the New headset USB?

4) nice computer B )

5) What internet software do you Use/have installed on your computer?
6) Try to open up Task manager-Applications when your computer first boots up and post/report back what is running there.
7) Try to open up Task manager-Processes when your computer first boots up and post/report/Pic back what is running there.
8) try and install the original LAN driver for your MB... the Windows "suggested driver" always breaks my Realtek lan connection.

1) Well, i am using avast antivirus at the moment. Should I uninstall it? maybe you can advice me which one to get in its place.

2)I am not sure what you mean by MB/cracking and all that.

3) It is bluetooth and it has a usb wireless adaptor.

4) Thanks but...not working...

5)Internet software? Well quite a few games (fifa, the division, dota2), antivirus, dropbox, i also have a vpn connection for my studies.

6) http://tinypic.com/r/wj9zwj/9

7)http://tinypic.com/r/20zs1ea/9
(should there be so many things running?)

8) I ll try doing that now.

By the way it happened again and did not start up no matter what. Then I removed my GPU and now i am running with the onboard one. Seems stable for the time being, but I have some trembles/flickers on the screen once in a while.

--2 friends of mine that know about these things have different opinions. One says it is the MOBA, the other that it is the PSU. -

Edit: I forgot to mention that I recorded temperatures/ voltages for an hour, using MSI command center and at the voltages, there were some infinitesimal sudden drops once in a while. Could that point at the PSU?

Hello... I think its the Blue tooth communications at this point... OR service/communications APP... it fits the time line of problems.
2) it could be a MB problem? it could be a Power problem... with these new models google it. Run without the GPU for a While as a test?... you still have RMA time for a replacement... Typically you pay One way shipping for it, they will EMail to print a shipping label.

3) A blue tooth device/driver can cause problems like this... check the driver for it, MB setting... or try turning it off, un-installing it, disable it in your control Panel-device manager ( not using it ) for a while and see if the problem stops. Blue tooth is considered a internet/communications setting... check your security settings/anti virus for your blue tooth headphones hardware device and reduce/stop them... let them be free B D

5) The VPN settings could be the problem here too... but I am not a expert here.

7) THX for pictures... you have a lot of Background communication services running... when you boot... you can right click the services and maybe see a similar name or # of the process... and link it to the error messages in 2)

another "Blind' test you could do is disable those services from running, one at a time, looking for the problem APP.

I will try uninstalling the bluetooth now. REmove everything. I seriously doubt though that the headset could cause my system to crash so heavily. And I had a couple of incidents even before buying the headset .

I tried playing fifa with the onboard gpu some minutes ago, and it was not possible. The screen was trembling/flickering/laggin terribly. However, I was able to play fifa with the onboard GPU before...

I do not know man, I am really confused and I am really consuming valuable time right now to solve this thing. I do not know.

I am also thinking of trying a format maybe????

Hello... A OS "clean" install is a good test... and see if Operation becomes stable agian... you can start a RMA process/ticket if you have time constraints... for $12? they will send you a New board (about a week)... if you find a different problem you can cancel the RMA request. B )

OK. Last night before going to sleep (and running my system with the onboard GPU) I started a prime95 large ftts test (the software said that it tests maximum power consumption and some ram). I just woke up and found out that the flickers that I told you about when I tried playing fifa were also happenning at my desktop and more intensely. (by the way all the workers at all four cores of the CPU kept passing).

So, does this make it a certain PSU issue or what?????

EDIT: I will perform a format now to be sure it is not a matter of drivers/malware/whatever and make sure it s a hardware issue

Today I brought my PC to a technician, because I tried to format my drive and re-install windows but (I do not really know what) something went wrong and I could not open the system. What he told me is that it is 90% the MOBA (although he did not really explain to me why he was convinced about that).
Anyway, since the format I installed the neccessary drivers and the system seems OK?! I played a game for an hour and everything was OK. I still have it minimized in the background and nothing strange is happening.

Here you can see temperatures/voltages while running The Division (game) and quite a few programs. They seem normal, right? http://tinypic.com/r/2hxtufa/9

Could my system be fixed just like that? With a simple format? I seriously doupt that to be honest and I am anxious sooner or later I will have the same problem.

What do you think. Is there anything I can do to monitor its perfomance or whatever now that it is functioning properly?

Hello... You had a great many things, COM processes, running on your computer... error reported was a COM server APP... I have to go by the evidence in front of me. I'm Glad you did the OS install, this is a fast simple test for your hardware... it would be a good time to create a manual "restore point" so if you have a software install problem, you can get back to a good OS system load point.
Shut off automatic updates too, so Windows doesn't load a BAD driver into you OS.
Your Video card is reaching the low 80's... see if you can improve some AIR flow to it or does the fan/card need cleaning... I like to be around the high 70's.

I had a minor -compared to the previous- shutdown some time ago. RIGHT after I installed Logitech Gaming Software for my headset. Right no -thank god- I am still running everything OK, after I uninstalled this bullshit. I also read this : http://windowsreport.com/logitech-gaming-software-windows-8-1/ and i am more than convinced that that thing compared probably with some other minor issues I already had with my system, led to all those shutdowns, instability etc.

I will make a restore point. You are right. About the GPU, r9 380 is in general a hot GPU. Consumes also a lot of energy. I 've hear people saying theirs could get even more than 90 so mine under full a lot of load -The Division, CHrome etc etc- having an average of 65-75 with a maximum instant 86 is quite normal I guess. ALthough I am not so happy about it :D

I will keep you informed on how it goes - hopefully well :D

Thanks for all the help til now

Well, it seems it was not as simple as a problem caused by the headset. I tried to format again and after the windows finished successfully installing, the PC restarted and then... nothing... again... froze. I just tried a couple of times to reset again the MOBA but it was futile. So....after calling the shop that I bought the motherboard from, they told me I have to send it to them and it could take from 1 to 5 weeks to find the problem (if there is any) and fix it/ send me a new one.
I just ordered a new MOBA so that I can use my PC in the meanwhile cause I really need it. Also that way, I will know for sure that it was indeed the MOBA. And i can return it withing 2 weeks and have a full refund so that is not a problem.
The problem will be if I find out tomorrow, that the new MOBA will come, that the system still freezes and all that bullshit...Then... That will be a big problem....

What do you mean by that? Is there a way to get my MOBA fixes/replaced apart from sending it to the shop?? I was planning to send it tomorrow morning back. Please explain if there is a better way.

I am pretty sure it was the MOBA. The problem was probably some pins at the CPU socket that have bended for some reason.
I installed a new MOBA today and everything is OK -till now. The only thing is that my FPS in The division quite fell... I was playing with decent FPS at 1440p (medium settings imagine...) and now i get 30-40 and sometimes they fall to even 120.
Any explanation for this?

EDIT: I just checked the MSI website and they say this:
Please use this web-form only for RMA-applications with regards to MSI-systems (i.e. notebooks, netbooks, All-In-Ones, nettops, Wind-PCs, full systems). Do not use this form to apply for component-RMAs, such as for mainboards, VGA cards and multimedia peripheral devices. For these type of rma requests you should return it to the place of purchase.

So i guess I have no other option?
