So after replacing my old AMD Radeon R235 Graphics card which came with my HP Pavilion 500-242ea with my new Gainward GeForce GTX 760 2GB, I experienced some problems. I have a Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt power supply after being suggested to upgrade from a 300W power supply. Firstly whenever I tried to boot up a game on steam it would barely last 20 minutes without my monitor coming up with white squares and delusional colours before shutting down my PC (the temperature was a constant 70 degrees celsius, so I don't think it overheated). After reinstalling drivers and taking the graphics card out and back in again, it won't even start without white lines and squares covering my monitor before shutting down my pc. I have tried many methods to prevent this, and now it wont even reach past the login screen on my computer. Can anybody help with this?

it is most likely defective you can try a few things like putting in the old power supply and just seeing if it will boot and see if you get the same issue but don't try to run games with the 300w. i am assuming that this most likely won't make a difference, so your best bet will most likely be to return the card for a new one. tell your vendor that you got a defective card and you want to trade it in for a new one and then slap the new one in your system and it should work fine. had this same exact issue with my 980 when i first got it i had to return it for a different one and then the second one worked.

Test the card in another system, unless you just want to go right to dealing with exchanging it. Also check for a newer BIOS for your system, and try running it one stick of RAM at a time. Even though the CX power supply is not the best (it's average quality or lower), it should power a 760, especially if the power supply is new.
