I'm thinking of putting together my own 2.0 or 2.1 speaker set, but it seems it doesn't really worth it. I'm trying to get something better than the z533 for the same amount of money, that is 60 gbp on amazon now (80 euros), but I don't mind going up a bit (120-140).

I'm looking for a decent pair of speakers, found the Wharfedale 9.0 Diamond on amazon.co.uk. I can see another, a bit more affordable set of speakers: Auna Line 300-SF-BK. Are they any better than the logitech?

What would you choose to build your own?

My location is Ireland / Dublin, so I guess I should also be looking around on amazon.de and ebay. Just not sure what to look for.

I guess the LEPY 2024A would be a good choice with the wharfedales. This would be 80£ (60+21) from amazon.co.uk (Since I'm currently in Ireland, p&p adds to the costs though.) The AV32 is 70£ there and the cr3 is 80£. Seems like the wharfedales are the better deal, though I don't know if the differences in the frequency response specs matter at all (starting from 60 Hz in case of the Wharfedales vs 80Hz for the others). What appeals to me is that later on, I could add a subwoofer to the WDs....

or I'll just go for the logitech z333, which offers an easy way out of this for 45£, and then I won't end up spending hundreds of £€$ on audio equipment... :)
wharfdale 9's if paired with a good amp will blow away the logitechs. you're talking about a decent investment for an amp though.

for a bit more than the logitech, the mackie cr3 or av30 are likely a much better choice as well.

pc speakers are generally "fair" and while they might be suitable quality for many people, if you expect something better you're going to have to spend a bit more and get something from the hifi world. speakers like i mentioned above are entry level powered speakers but are certainly respectable enough.
