I recently got a Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro and it installed the Windows drivers but the software won't work without the Creative drivers.
When I try to install the creative drivers it hangs for a while then says.
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device"
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

if you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.
