On a Dell inspiron 530s with no WiFi set up (running Vista, 32bit) will installing a pci WiFi card allow me to connect to my wireless network? I installed a USB router already.

Solution
After plugging it in, you may have to install the driver that comes with it, usually on a CD. Sometimes Windows will find and load a driver automatically, but plan on using the CD because we know that works.

Good luck.

Thx so much... Now I've got to see if there is a modem. The Dell is probably 10 years old or so. I'm wondering... If I buy a new desktop... Could I add my hard drive to it? I don't want to lose all my programs and buy them new... Hmmm... Just bending your ear! Lol!

Whilst you can use the Dell hard drive on a new PC. you cannot use the Windows that's already on it because the new PC will have totally different hardware.

The programs that are on the hard drive won't run on a new PC either, you would have to re-install them.

I don't see what all that has to do with WiFi though? (which is what you originally asked about).

Wow, you're terrific! Thanks. I was just thinking about a new desktop... But really didn't want to go thru all the program reinstall... Gosh, some of those programs are "antiques" that I have edited to do what I need them to do... & I just replaced the power source & cleaned some stuff up ... So it's running pretty good for what I use it for. Problem is it isn't WiFi capable... And it has become a pain to switch back and forth between my laptop and the desktop when I need the Internet for something. (all that was just an fyi). So...
When you say I can use a USB Wi-Fi adapter, really? I mean, just plug it in and... Go? Can it really be that simple?
