I received all my parts for my first PC build and the case comes with pre set standoffs for a atx board it looks like but my board is micro atx would I be able to remove the standoffs and reposition them in the holes to match my motherboard so it would fit in place .

Edit: my case is a Nzxt s340 and my motherboard is a Gigabyte Ga-H170m-D3h micro atx motherboard

Solution
All standoffs should be removable, due to the different dimensions of motherboards you can fit inside most cases.
Like I said just offer the board up to the motherboard mounting plate of the case so you get a good idea of the positioning of standoffs for your motherboard you are using.

Some standoffs need to be screwed out, and the other type are on a clip mechanism where you squeeze it either side to remove it from the motherboard mounting plate ok.

Does it come with a tool to remove them ? I haven't done a look around in the case since I'm building it tomorrow and the box is still sealed shut

Yes you will need to remove the existing standoffs, and where they are positioned on the motherboard mounting plate of the Nzxt case.

Then offer the Gigabyte board up to the plate, so you can see or judge where a standoff should be for each hole of the motherboard.

If you miss a standoff that is pre fitted to the board plate of the case and it is not positioned where a whole is on your motherboard, you will cause a short circuit on the back of your motherboard where a standoff will touch.

So take your time and double check that you have all of your standoffs in the right place and no extra ones exist on the back plate that are not lined up with a hole of the motherboard.

You can remove standoffs with a pair of long nosed pliers or a very small box spanner.

Its not screwed too deep, you can remove it with your hands quite easily.
