My monitor tuns black for a few seconds and resumes to normal

My monitor frequently turns black for a few seconds and turns normal later. I suspect that that it's my graphic card because it's an Gigabyte r9 390 and they aren't very reliable. I have no way to test if the cause is my monitor because I only have one monitor.

My system specs are:

.Gigabyte r9 390
.Intel i7-6700
.GIgabyte H-170 Gaming 3
.1866m
hz kingston ddr4 ram ( 16 gb)
. 240 gb samsung 850 evo ssd
. 1tb caviar blue hard drive
. EVGA g2 750watt PSU

make sure everything is plugged all the way in. on some connectors and ports you will need to kind of snap it in if that makes sense for it to make the best possible connection. i was having a similar issue with my monitor but with power rather and it wouldn't stay on and i couldn't figure out why until i pushed the power cord in with a little bit of pressure and i heard it click into place.
