I was wondering if you could transfer a large amount of data (4TB) from one external HDD to another while running multiple applications, browsing the net, etc. without having any issues? More importantly, would there be anything you could do on your computer while the transfer is ongoing that would negatively affect it?

Hi there Mastermmm,

I believe you can do that.
Yet, the transfer process would finish faster if you don't do multiple things with the system in the meantime.
Also, 4 TB is way too much. So, it would be nice if you transfer it in several big chunks.

I would also suggest you to consider using some third party data transfer tool.

Cheers,

It is transferring at a rate of roughly 100-125 MB per second, while transferring the full 4TB with no issues so far, which is 1/3rd of the way done. It started at a completion time of 10 hours, and now it is down to 7.

So far it is 3 hours in with no issues, transferring at a rate of 100-125 MB per second :)
