Hi there, I looking to upgrade the ram in the system im currently stuck with which only has 2GB
Its an Dell Inspiron 531 and I just brought what I thought were at least the correct clock speeds etc however the modules dont fit. Ive measured the existing modules and the space between the end and the center notch is 7cm. Whereas the ram i brought has its notch 7.3cm's from one end.
Now did Dell use a proprietory spaced module or is there a way of working out compatability as the ram I get given when putting the computer into various 'scan your system' programs is really expensive (around £9/1Gb) whereas I can generally find 4GB used for the same price or a little more.
So yeah all help would be much appreciated!
Also please no jokes about how awful my system is, I know its bad but I just simply dont have the money and Im just trying to make the best of what I have.
