ok so i bought a new in the box cellphone and as u all know most if not all cellphones come with the batery at 50% charge my question is should i charge the phone before using it for the first time or use it then charge it seeing as how the battery comes pre charged?

dont wanna ruin the battery life

While modern batteries have reduced the memory effect, it is still sort of present.

Just make sure you fully charge it at some point fairly soon after you first get it (like plugged in overnight charged, not just until it reads 100%)

I don't recall if fully discharging it is also good, but I perform that once.

For long term maintenance, keeping the battery above 50% is good for the battery life. Leaving it plugged in until fully charged also is beneficial.
