In the Activity Manager I see that my Memory usage is extreme, using up 4,9 GB out of 12 GB, Even if I add together the combined processes in the processes tab it doesn't come close to using 4,9 GB, what's causing this?

I also came across a guy's answer over in another thread:

Well in windows 7 for example.
In the search option box.
You type : msconfig

Run the program, and in the window that opens up click on the boot tab.
Bellow it there is an advanced option button. click on it.
A new box will open, there should be a tick box that says maximum memory.
It should be ticked and a maximum amount of memory windows can use for it`s self can be set.

So say you had 8gb, then you would set the maximum amount windows could use to 4096 or 4gb. The page file value would be smaller for windows. and you would have about 3.5gb of free system memory to run other programs.

So it would work out 50% more or less memory usage by windows.
the settings will only take effect on the next restart and loading of the OS.

Would this be of help? I want to be able to use the full extent of my 12 GB when playing games like Rust for example.

That would not help, as that is adjusting the page file. I wouldn't worry - my laptop has 16GB and when it's idle, it uses 5.5GB - windows automatically manages the RAM so you should be fine. If you are really concerned, download RamMAP, which will help you see what's using the RAM.

So your using close to 5GB with a game open and the other programs looks normal to me. Don't change anything your nothing near using 12GB of memory your PC will only use what it needs.
Open task manager and do what you do if your not in the 10GB area then your 12GB is just fine.

No it will not be of any help. In fact, it will do the exact opposite of what you wish it to do. Whomever posted that is a moron, so if you can please PM me a link to it I'll delete it and warn the poster.

Please post some screenshots of the memory tab of Task Manager and provide us with your system specs. In all likelihood there's nothing wrong at all but it doesn't hurt to look it over.
