First built PC, no display.

Just built my first PC z97x-sli motherboard rev 1.1, i5-4690k cpu, cpu fan that came with cpu, gtx 730 2GB video card, 2 8GB ram one by pny and the other ballistic, evga supernova bronze 850 power supply, 2tb hard drive. It will turn on and beep once, keyboard works can turn cap lock on but no display. Tried both VGA and HDMI with board slots and even tried HDMI with video card slot. Even pulled and reinserted CMOS battery. Looking to get some help on figuring out whats going.

You should use the video card ports. Try removing a single stick of RAM, or try removing the GPU and using the onboard graphics.

Try only one stick of RAM. Then go onto basic troubleshooting - reseating the GPU, then RAM and then CPU.

Please, keep your lips to yourself (heh!). Now put the card back in, plug thye HDMI or DVI cable into the card, and see if it works. If it doesn't, it's most likely faulty, or you have to go into the BIOS and set PCIe card as primary display. Try that, too.

The problem is when the card is plugged in I cant use vga or hdmi with motherboard ports. It will only display from the motherboard ports when card is disconnected. Guess I'll need to buy a new one graphics card.

That's because you're not supposed to use the motherboard ports when a video card is in! Unless you find a BIOS option that allows you to.

Neh, that wouldn't be it.

Did you try inserting the GPU and plugging the video cable into the GPU or no?
