So here it is, i5 for some moderate gaming, the liquid cooler feels like overkill now, but 'hey why not?' Pcparts recommended it, going with 32gb of ram to future proof for the next eight or so years, I think the m.2 is a nice touch to have a well balanced first build....only have one average GPU on the Maximus Hero, my reasoning and main concerns are...

I can always buy a second gtx960 next Black Friday and pair it in sli....having a Samsung pro950 m.2 will allow this but they have to run 8x/8x. (What I gathered from my readings)

Not bad...not UHD worthy, yet.

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB Superclocked Video Card

Thermaltake Versa N21 ATX Mid Tower Case

Have a themaltake 430 watt power supply sitting around(donated from a friend) this will definitely be upgraded in the future along with the GPU

It would recommend you to go with a 2x16 GB or 4x8GB instead of getting 2x 2x8GB.

It's an excellent build all in all and with a high end motherboard like yours, overclocking will be easy. If you are going to overclock your CPU, the H60 is not an overkill.

If i were you, i would get a Single GTX 980 or GTX 980 Ti.

Don't have a ton of funds right now. If the Sapphire R9 390 8GB is around in 12-16 months. It'll be at the top of my list.

Pertaining to the ram, this way I get all 32gb at 3000MHz, the other four pack could save some money, but 3000>2400 right?

I would love to have a GTX 980, but I feel the 960 should run games at a high enough frame rate, and allow me to save for the new 4K GPU's two years down the line.

A GTX 980 or GTX 980 Ti hsa far superior performance compared to a R9 390.

3000 Mhz is faster than 2400 Mhz. However, keep in mind the RAM speed barely affects gaming performance so it won't make much of a difference even if you went with the 2400 Mhz.

Again, future proofing for the seven eight years, here on the ram.

Black Friday 2017 , if I can hold out until then, will be a new GPU, SSD or new M.2 most likely, and new power supply.

Sounds good. I would recommend upgrading the PSU and GPU first.
