My 1tb hdd just went dead. It had some trouble before. The pin would get stucked for a while and after a short time it would act back as normal. Today however it doesn't make much sound, doesn't launch and you can not see him in BIOS. Is there a way to fix it so I can recover the data ?

Hey there, LX19.

It really sounds like the drive is done for. You should always have a backup of your most important data, or if you don't have one, at least make a backup as soon as you think that there might be something wrong with the HDD. It's a really unfortunate situation and I'm sorry you had to learn this the hard way. :(
If the reading head was the problem and if it got stuck on numerous occasions it is probably damaged a lot by now if the drive doesn't even start. However there is some hope at the end of the tunnel - you could go for a data recovery company to see if professionals will be able to recover your files.

Hope that helps.

Since there is a lot of problems with 7200.11 and 7200.12 I was hoping that there might be something that I can do myself before going to the data recovery company.

For the time being the drive gets power but doesn't make any normal noise that would suggest it is spinning.
How about the replacement of PCB ? Would that help or the problem lies somewhere inside of the drive ?
