Hey everyone...I have a 500gb ssd in a new build. I would like to add a 1 yr. old 3 tb hdd as additional storage. The 3 tb hdd has data on it that I dont care about. Would I be able to install the hdd, turn on the computer and format that hard drive immediatley? Will the pc realize that I installed an additional hdd and prompt me to format it? Just not sure how it works. Thanks for your help!

Hey there, mrjjv!

You shouldn't encounter any issues when you plug the old 3 TB HDD to the system just like the others mentioned. Once you boot the system with both drives inside, you should go to Disk Management and delete the volumes on the secondary drive, since you don't need the data on it. Afterwards, you can easily reformat it from there.

Good luck! Keep us posted if you encounter any difficulties! :)
