Hello internet!

I am about to start my first pc build. I have picked out all the parts that I think I need/want and am looking for confirmation or suggestions for improvement.

My build list is here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rBzhsY

My goal is an entry level DAW that can run most games fairly well too. I'd like to keep the price down but I can always budget away more money. Let me know if I chose a good parts list or if there are obvious poor choices. Also, I already bought the case but it should fit nearly everything.

Another thing I'm wondering is will I need to buy a soundcard for a successful DAW?

Thanks

My monitor resolution is 1920x1080 I believe. What might that affect?

EDIT:
Also, could you explain your reasoning behind the changes you suggested?

60hz or 120hz?

I went with a better cooler.
Newer version of the Asus-A motherboard with USB 3.1 ports
Better RAM
More reasonable ssd. You could just about get a 500GB ssd for the price of the 250GB you chose.
WAY better psu. The Corsair CX is not good.

Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I really don't know if my monitor is 60hz or 120hz. It's a 4yr old Asus 24" monitor. If I were to guess I would say it's 60hz. I'm currently at my work computer so I can't tell you specific info about it.

Well you could save a few hundred dollars if it's just a 60hz 1080p monitor unless you plan on getting a better one soon. There is really no reason to go with an i7 and expensive motherboard etc...

This would give you pretty much identical gaming performance and get you on the newest platform.

That makes sense but I think the i7 will really help with recording audio which would be the main goal for the pc. From my research about digital audio workstations it seemed to be the consensus to go for the i7. Hopefully, I wasn't led astray by that. Plus I may still upgrade my monitor in the future.
