Can't seem to turn on the local area connection on my Windows 7 computer while switching from a wireless to a wired ethernet connection

Solution
It should find it automatically when you connect an ethernet cable to your PC and you have wireless disabled. I do this switching all the time on my gaming PC for downloading big Steam update files (wired is faster). Like the other guy said, make sure you have the network adapter drivers installed for your motherboard.

Yes, that is exactly it. Turns out when it was first set up I went with the wireless because it was easy and never bothered to even install the needed drivers. Thank you for the help
