I would like to be able to bring up Google Maps by clicking on an icon on my taskbar rather than having to go back to my desktop.

I have Windows 8.1 32bit. When I right click on Google Maps, Google Images or Google Search the dropdown menu does not have the option "Pin to taskbar" When I right click on other desktop icons the option is there, but for reasons unknown to me these three are treated differently.

Are you sure those are actually application shortcuts and not just URLs? If they are just URLs, why the hell are you putting them on your desktop????

(if for some stupid reason you really want to do that, make a shortcut first and then pin that shortcut)

Google Maps, Images and Google Search are URLs. I have valid reasons for wanting to put their shortcuts down on the taskbar. I have 6 computers running Windows 8.1 and a new one with Windows 10. None of the 7 will let me put a shortcut to a URL down on the taskbar. I use Classic Shell for desktop, but I don't think Classic Shell is the problem.
