I pulled 2 3TB hard drives from Windows Server Storage Pool. I was able to reformat one of the drives, but i cannot get the other one formatted. I have tried the drive on different SATA ports, but no luck. I keep getting an I/O error. When I try using diskpart i get an error stating something about the virtual disk. The drive is detected within computer management. In Windows Server Manager, the hard drive is detected, but it says unknown. Its a 3TB harddrive, but for some reason in computer management it is listed as close to 4TB.

I need help ASAP. please & thank you.

Does the computer you moving the drives to, have an efi compatible bios? Was windows installed using the efi boot?

The drive may formatted as a gpt drive instead of the older mbr. Gpt is required for boot drives 3tb plus.

I meant: Use manufacture Disk Utility to scan it, you should KNOW after the test. It looks like you have a bad drive :)
