Trying to find out if there is any practical reason to use server processors on home pcs?
I have noticed that the same socket will work with a variety of processors: LGA 775 and 1155 sockets are the two I have in mind. What would be the best "bang for the buck" on these two pcs?
Thanks,

I have owned two, 775, Xeons, myself. X3210 and X3230. Basically a Q6400 and Q6700

it is funny how 775 and skylake have in common like non server boards 775 don't give xeon bios support and then skylake has no xeon support on 100 series and then they both have spilt memory controllers 775 ddr2/3 1151 ddr3/4 like having a FLASH BACK ..LOL....

not trying to say it don't or will not work cause so many did the mod anyway and worked out fine and can make for a little project to gain some extra life from a 775 board

good luck
