Hello all,
Last night I turned on a game after a month, and black screen randomly occurred, monitor completely shut off, like not getting any signal, until I force restarted the computer.
First I thought it was game, nvidia settings, etc.
I got worried, since nothing of it was the problem.
Then I ran a GPU stress test and temps were from start 90°C, I knew it wasn't right, once it came to 100°C gpu shut itself off.
I recently had a problem with 1 fan not working, the other one would work louder in order to compensate for the fallen one so I'd manually spin the 2nd fan, and it didn't really bother me that much since it'd rarely happen.
So I opened the case and saw that 2 fans were not spinning. I was horrified since my PC was working without proper cooling for at least 1 month (I wasn't stressing the gpu in that period though).
Then I manually started both of the fans and they started spinning.
As for now, gpu temp is 49°C, not in game.
Exact gpu model: MSI GTX 770 twin frozr 2gb
What do I do guys?
Will cleaning the gpu with an air compressor help?
Replace fans? if yes, how?
Replace GPU?
and my last question would be:
it happened 4-5 times until I found the problem, is my graphics card damaged from overheating?
