Case came with two extra pre-installed standoffs that are slightly different?

So my case came with all the standoffs I need but when I looked inside I saw two already screwed in. I took them out and realized they are slightly taller on top and also the threaded piece is slightly longer. Is this normal? Should I discard these? Seems like the Mobo wouldn't sit level with these two longer standoffs in there so thought I should ask before I potentially do any damage.

Check out these photos to see what I mean:

Okay thank you. Do all ATX motherboards have this?

Hi
I have a Phanteks case. I noticed 2 standoffs were taller!
I thought it was a mistake and my supplier sent me 2 replacement ones.
On close inspection it looks like the longer ones had an additional conical addition. I then came to the conclusion these being placed like yours were designed to allow you to locate the motherboard, in the right position i.e. stop the MB skidding around as you position it.

My problem was with my MB a Supermicro, the conical bit on the longer standoffs, was too big a diameter to effectively go into the MB locating hole, and thus lie level with the other 7 standoffs.
Luckily I spotted all this prior to trying to fit the MB - I think if I didn't, as I clamped down the MB it would either have snapped the MB or broken through those locating holes!!

My solution was to order 2 more MB standoffs the normal ones, and get 2x 3mm grub [headless allen key] screws. I put these in - thus effectively providing excellent locating "pins", then loosely screw in the other 7 standoff screws , and then remove the grub screws and put in the last 2 stand off screws.

Perfect solution, as there is no strain to MB, I have even better locating Pins, and once removed have 9 equal standoffs.

Maybe my assumption is wrong, but I am awfully grateful I spotted this before even trying to fit the MB, as once I had taken these longer standoff off the case backplane and offered them up to my MB holes, the conical bits would have held off my MB in those positions by at least 3mm higher and or ripped open the holes.
Being my first build I was just quadruple checking everything prior to assembly

But then as one poster said I should change my name to "Overthinking It" :):)
