Fairly reliable yet phantom RAM loss/gain issues.

I have had a 100% repeatable issue for some months where I get a loop in early boot with a memory error code unless I switch off my PSU/wall plug. That was a 100% fix to boot my PC successfully until now. I should note that I have/had 16gb RAM and it would appear I have one bad stick, but now I am doubting this. So I am down to 8gb to keep dual channel.

A week or so ago, I turned off at the wall while the PC was off between loops and it fired back up (even though of course it should only boot on hitting the power button after a "power failure") and now I lose a further 4gb RAM down to only 4, which is now really too little. I seem to have to leave the wall plug off or better yet unplugged for ages even hours on end to get 8gb back. So the RAM sticks themselves are not dead.

What I am wondering (I have yet to find a 2nd PSU to test with) is if anyone knows offhand whether this is possibly a PSU issue or god help me.. my 4 year old board that costs 3-4x more new than it did back then :D

On a side note, I just got a bsod with win32k.sys and when it rebooted I had 7.98gb RAM in system info instead of a round 8gb.

Bump... anyone have any idea? Spent 4 years in simple tech work myself and never come across this. Also never really came across a dead/problem MB :p So I'm hoping its PSU
