Hi, I'm building a computer for my Sister, using an A6 6400k for light gaming (Roller Coaster Tycoon, Minecraft etc), and i was wondering whether to use my old Nvidia Asus 2gb GT610, or just stick with the APU's built in graphics? They are quite hard to compare as one is integrated, and the other is discreet. Any help will be much appreciated.

PS, in terms of video memory for the IGPU, the computer will have 4gb of RAM installed (so I believe 512mb will be assigned to the IGPU).

Regardless of how you can "improve" the resources for your 6400k, the GPU will still be better. Using a GPU allows your CPU to do just that, be a CPU, and not split the computing power with APU.

If you have the 610 available, use it. Why spend money for something that will not be as effective as the GT610?

. I have a 6400k on a word processing/ HTPC build and it is slightly slow CPU. I think it is okay on minecraft. The integrated is ok, and if you have 4 gb memory, get 2133 or 2400 mhz ram to benefit the integrated. Besides of memory, the 8470d will easily trump 610 of performance. The 610 is comparable to Intel integrated iGPU. Getting a better APU is an option too like a a8 7650k or a10 7850k if you have money. It will perform highly better

cant really fit a better apu in my budget, this needs to be really cheap! I can however get 8gb ram if that can improve the 8470D's performance. Also bear in mind that the 6400k only supports up to 1866mhz ram, i think anyway.
