Preferred Online Stores

I'm going to start purchasing parts for my PC today but would like to know one last thing. Are there are any online (American) stores that I should stay away from? Pcpartpicker has a number of different retailers to purchase parts and some of the websites look kinda old/sketchy.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Anything on PCPartpicker generally is good, but IMO I always buy from Amazon, Newegg, or Tigerdirect, just because they are bigger, I've dealt with them before, and I trust them. Occasionally they cost more, but to me its worth the peace of mind.

IDK of any to stay away from, besides possibly craigslist or ebay, but I really love Newegg.com. Their service is really good and I haven't had a problem with them yet.

I always shop around between the stores already mentioned (NewEgg, Amazon) and then a couple of others including retail stores you may or may not have in your area:

B&H Photo
MicroCenter (retail)
Fry's Electronics (retail)

It pays to compare prices between all these sites individually. For example, PC Part references Amazon as the best price for a Seagate 1TB Hybrid 2.5" hard drive (model ST1000LM014, $79.88 and free shipping). B&H Photo has it for $80.99 and free shipping, but B&H Photo does not charge sales tax shipping outside of NY since they only have a physical store in NY.

Also don't forget that some sites like NewEgg and the retail stores mentioned above have special rebate offers exclusive only for them. So Amazon may have the "best price" listed for something, but net cost may not reflect that it is the best cost with hidden cost savings (like no sales tax).

EDIT: Thanks for the info on TigerDirect USAF...I somehow missed that story/sticky entirely. I don't have a store in my area but there is one where I regularly visit family and sometimes they'd have the best price on something. After reading that, no wonder their prices were so good on some things. =8-o

Microcenter for me, but I know that is not an option for everyone. Although you can place your order online, you have to go to the store to pick it up. I wonder if they will ever go to an online order/ship it out business model? Their prices are pretty good, particularly on the cpu/motherboard combos.

??? Microcenter has a web store too. Just click the store drop down and change it to Web Store.

Note that some items are "in-store" only and you must go to the store to pick them up. Those items that can be shipped from one of their distribution centers have three shipping options: standard, next day, two day. All options are reasonably priced, in line with NewEgg's shipping when they charge it on an item. I have two stores in my city but neither is easy to get to in a quick trip. I've had several small items shipped (hard drives and various small PC components).
