Case USB cable Question

I just got a case that came with the Blue USB 3 header to motherboard, but it also has a very short usb 2 header on the same cable. When I plug the USB 3 to motherboard, the USB 2 Cable is unable to reach any ports. My question is, do I need both plugged into the MB in order to get both USB ports on the case front to work, or will the Blue USB 3 plug work for both case ports? (1 USB 2, 1 USB 3).

i would immagine the usb2 header is incase your mobo doesnt support 3 and you use either or, but im not sure. i'd have to see how much of a split there is between the headers and maybe know what case it is.

name and model of that case and does it have usb 2.0 and usb 3.0 connector on the front panel .

The case is a Xenta (not sure of the model number - nothing on it) it has a USB 2 and USB 3 port on the front of the case.

Thats what I was thinking, I just wasnt certain. I'll get the extention then, but it will have to have the pins one side to enter the one from the case.
