Hi;
I have had this Canon 8400F scanner for a while. It has performed flawlessly until recently, when, after it has been on and scanning documents for a while (maybe an hour or so), the software pauses a longer and longer time to adjust the lamp. I have two software apps I use with the scanner: the Canon Toolbox (ver 4.9.3.2), and ABBY PDF Transformer +.
Both apps will wait a longer time for the lamp to adjust, so I don't think this is a software issue.
The problem began a few months ago when I was still running Windows 7 SP1, but has not improved after I upgraded to Windows 10.
It does appear to me that the lamp, or related circuitry is going bad, but I just wanted to get other opinions before I go for a new scanner.
I really like this scanner, because it does a very good job with books, which don't lay perfectly flat on the glass. I have read that many of the new LED models require the document to be perfectly flat for a good focus, so I am leery of replacing the unit.
Thanks for your help
