Hello. So I have decided it's time to completely upgrade from my amd a8 3820 APU computer. I am having some issues deciding on what would be best to buy for my games. I'm on a pretty tight budget($300), but I already have some parts that can be transferred, which is my 2 TB HD, gtx 750 ti, and 8 GB of memory. Basically I need a new computer case, motherboard and processor, cooler, and PSU. I plan on upgrading my graphics card, but that's down the road.

I'm open to both amd and intel, although with my budget im sure AMD Is gonna be the choice.

Thank you!

This build will give you plenty of room for upgrading. It uses Intel Skylake and allows you to use your current DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 16GB). The CPU is a dual-core but does utilize HT (2C/4T). The CPU if installed correctly with the stock cooler will stay cool even with gaming.

Thanks for the responses so far guys. I've read great things about the i3 6100, but what concerns me is that it's dual core. I play newer games, and I've read some games won't run well or at all with a dual core. Would i have any issues running games such as fallout 4, or battlefield?

Even though the 6100 is only a dual core it does utilize hyper-threading which does help with games that require a quad core. Even though its not on this list you can clearly see that even the i3 4130 outperforms 8-core AMD.
Single Core Performance > Multi Weaker Cores.

Maybe wait and save until you can afford the i5 6500.

I'm sorry to say but that PSU is absolute crap. It is a fore hazard and should be removed. As posted on the tier list, the 500b is a tier 3 but it is still decent quality I see no reason the advise against it. Also since it is a low budget, choosing it is not a problem. I would take the i3 6100 over a 860k 4300 or 6300 any day. Dual core is recognized as a quad core since it is ht. It has 4 logical processors.

I should have stated a few things. Other than social media, YouTube, and emails, this machine will be strictly for gaming only. I don't stream, photoshop, or multitask much at all. Also, the memory I have is Crucial 8GB kit (4GBx2) DDR3-1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) Non-ECC UDIMM Desktop Memory, so hopefully this will be compatible with my future build.

These suggestions were awesome thus far!
