My question is simple, but i didn't find any information in the internet,so i am asking here.
A week ago my motherboard fried and my cpu died too.Now i have a new mb and a new cpu.I tested everything else on my work pc and it seems to work. The psu is working too,but a guy told me that it isn't safe for use because of the accident that happened. Is this true or i can use my psu with no worries?

Thank you for the fast response, that's what i wanted to hear :D and yeah i know its not very good psu but i dont really want to spend more money on old pc because in the end of 2016 im planning to build a new rig :)

Pavel,

If the system suffered damage, then the cause of it would be to do with the current PSU you have.
It is either faulty, or a very cheap unbranded chinese power supply unit.

Cheap power supplies come with very little voltage protection circuits such as overvoltage protection.
where if the power supply becomes faulty it can can send large voltages through your motherboard and graphics card, or the cpu of the system.

It was and no doubt the cause why your motherboard and cpu were fried and any other hardware.
So you should not under any circumstances use that power supply unit.

You should replace your power supply unit, with a well known branded power supply of good quality.
Do not even attempt to use the old power supply.
Unless you want to have to buy another motherboard and cpu again.

You may cringe at the prices they charge for some power supplies, but they are priced high for the reason of reliability and the amount of protection circuits built into them to stop damage to other components of your system if any slight fault develops as safety features.

And if you think about it if you bought a quality power supply unit, then it may of saved you having to buy a new motherboard and cpu in the long run Pavel.

You never skimp on a power supply unit, or opt for one priced dirt cheap that is unbranded or not known as a good quality PSU.
Or you will regret it later on when it becomes faulty taking other parts of your system with it.
As you have now seen.

Well i dont know what to do know.i think Its not faulty because i used it alot of time with no problems.when i tried to overclock the q6600 i think the motherboard fried because its not very good mb for overclocking.

Do you know the brand name of the power supply, and the wattage?

Also look at the 12v power rail supply of the Psu.
Tell me what it quotes in wattage and amp rating.

There should be a sticker on the side of the PSU detailing all of the power specifications. And the brand name or manufacturer of it.
Also how long as the power supply been in use, two or three years ? or more to your knowledge.

By rights you should replace a Psu every three to four years of use.

Well looking at it, it was a pre fitted psu in a pre built system.
Age about 5 to 6 years old, at a rough guess.

Max ouput on 12v 335 watts combined at 19a. peak output 400W for a limited amount of time when required.

My opinion if you have a Pci-e graphics based card in the system and have upgraded to a newer model.
Along with any overclocking you apply to the Cpu.

Is to buy a better PSU without question.
The choice is yours if you want to risk using the current power supply unit.
Personally Pavel I would not trust it.

If your asking for a solution replace it.
