What do you mean working higher? Some one just told me that one would scale to the speed of the other. But wouldn't it still be better to have them Sli than to have 1 graphics card have all the load?

Okay but do you know if this Sli will be worth it? Will it still increase the overall performance of the PC?

So you are saying that if I broadcast game play and I use 2 graphics cards it's not going to increase the performance?
and make it less stressful on one graphics card?

That is not stressful for the graphics card. Rendering more details is. SLI helps with frame rates in games which support SLI. Also it sounds as if you might be trying to solve for a problem without knowing if one exists. Have you tried what you want with your current rig and seen if it works as you'd like? If it doesn't work as you'd like, what is wrong?

No my question is will Sli work between these two cards. And if they do work. Will they increase my Frame rates even tho they are both at different speeds.

It will work. It will increase FPS in most games. I've used SLI with mis-matched cards. But it is worth knowing that SLI is a bit flaky and that your results will vary depending on the game.

Alright I want a 3rd opinion if anyone else has proof or supports the idea of using these specific 2 cards and Sli

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3026339/sli-gigabyte-980ti-msi-gaming-980ti.html

in answer to your real world deal [from your thread above] looks to me you want fantasy answer .. theres a few forums posts on this and 900 cards on mixing brands may not work you can take it or leave it

if you want to know for sure with your own eyes just buy the card and stick it in and see how it all ends up [that as real world as your going to get - your own user experience ]

thing is if you can afford to buy the wrong / different card then why not just get the same matched right card ??

good luck

Proof that it improves fps? That is what sli exists for and there are plenty of 980ti sli benchmarks around. Of course that's assuming gpu power is the issue. Might be an issue to find those exact models but plenty of mixed manufacturer proof too.

bottom line is everybody can tell him heck ya it will work and he gets the card and finds it don't like I tried to show in the dup thread I linked above ..

then he may stick it in and works fine or 1/2 butt with issues ?? thing is true sli guys know to use reference cards reference cards stick to NVidia specs aftermarket card not so much and heres why

evga giga msi reference will mix just fine cause there NVidia reference speced cards . a reference card is still reference today next month next 2 years . I understand most will call that bull$hit but that's how it is and why if sli a aftermarket card buy the 2 sister cards at the same time to help insure they got all the same and the same bios on them and all

you can wait months and get the sister card but the latest one now may have elpidia memory on it where the first card you got had the Samsung or the first card had first release v-bios and now the new sister card could be up to 3 or 4 revision bios ???

when you sli you use identical matched cards preferably from the same factory run bought together at the same time [everything is subject to change with out notice as they say ]

[ALL OPINION}

good luck

The frame rate goes up when the game supports SLI as each card renders every other frame. so the load is more evenly split, but also there is more power to work with, as there are now two cards rendering and as each one is dealing with every other frame in a staggered fashion, the next frame is almost always ready.

I gave him a link in the closed dup thread on that and the guy [like the rest that mixed cards] could get them to work with a diffsli program [??]

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/sli-cannot-be-enabled-with-980gtx-of-different-brands.211043/

you see it with 970's and all you do this at your risk and what one guy claims to be good and running may not work out so well for you

I mean you sit here worrying about it what I say he says she says and the dude down the road says , but unless you do it yourself and see/learn /gain your own experience you will never know for sure ..

like nike -- ''JUST DO IT '' it will work as you expect or it will not . that's all there is to it

600 dollars isn't worth being pretty sure. Or 30% sure or 60% sure if you are going to buy it for me then go ahead. But I like to know the result of an investment.

I wouldn't buy something unless I'm sure I would be able to use it. Time is money and money is wasted if we have to send it back after it doesn't work. So please if anyone has tried this and has confirmed it works id appreciate it.

As this thread has already said yes, you can they are both the same type of card BUT, as I said try to get the same type of card. if you want proof go check you-tube out. not every one can afford SLI, I cant, but the knowledge that it will work is still mine.
