I'm trying to add more ram to my system, and I've been not having much success figuring out what RAM is compatible.

I found this online, Intel Server compatibility List. Does this list the compatible ram with this particular pc?

HP seems to put their own part number around whatever part they put in the pc, HP Spare Parts.

HP Option Parts

This part M393B1K70DH0-CK0 and MT36JSF1G72PZ-1G6M1 are pretty common on the web and relatively inexpensive used on ebay. Are these ok to use?

Am I on the right track?

Page 15 on the quickspecs -- http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04111527.pdf?ver=5 says 1, 2, 4GB unbuffered ECC DDR3 DIMMS or 4, 8GB registered ECC DDR3 DIMMs.

The part numbers you listed are both 8GB registered ECC DIMMs. You can't mix registered and unregistered DIMMs. Look at page 16 or 17 of the above PDF for allowable memory configurations. If you want to use the parts you list, you are limited to the RDIMM rows.

Thanks for the reply, I did see that note and it seems I was overcomplicating things a bit. I should be able to get a total of 96 GB of ram, but currently I'm planning on 32.

What's the best brand/stick to look for out of that bunch?

The second part number is a 1600Mhz device. It might have slightly better performance. I have no specific experience with either part. For best compatibility, I would start with the HP part numbers listed in the quicspecs and go from there.
