Recently, my Electronics class was clearing out old tech to make room for new stuff. I picked up enough parts to throw together a computer I would like to use for web servers. I pulled the motherboard out of an old HP Compaq DX2400 Microtower business computer. It's the ASUS IPIBL-LB. I asked my instructor if he had any Windows Server discs of any year and the only one he could find is Win2k Server. This doesn't bother me but I can't, for the life of me, find ethernet drivers for this thing. Does anyone know of any place to get them?

I have run this MB on Vista, Win 7 and Win 10 and with a wide range of CPUs too. For XP I suspect the vista drivers will work. Try them, as there was some backward compatibility to XP for those who wanted to downgrade. I have no idea about Win2K Server, but it's so old I would not trust it for a server due to security holes. You're liable to become a server bot to the world.

The Ethernet hardware is built into the Intel G33 chipset on this MB, so you can't find it by itself. It's in the G33 chipset driver, available as a generic version from Intel. However, I would get it from HP, since they were the big user of this MB, they know the quirks of it, and they and have well tested drivers. For Windows 7 and Windows 10, load Vista...

I, too, have a dx2400 with the same mobo and also need the NIC and audio drivers. I got my machine from my employer's 'junk pile' and the original user and IT admin are long gone. Slight twist: my unit has a HP sticker that says "OS: Vista downgraded to XP Pro." XP is not on HP's drop down list! I was hoping to find the answer here [like I did for the dx2450]. Do I have another 'boat anchor'?

For Windows 7 and Windows 10, load Vista drivers in compatibility mode. There is an Intel graphics chip and a Realtek sound chip on the MB, for which HP has drivers too, but I always disable them since I use more modern cards for graphics and sound.

Drivers for XP, Vista, and Win7 for the HP DX2400 are here:

Vista drivers for this board as used in the HP M9300T are here:

The chipset drivers generally work for any hardware system using this board. The onboard graphics and sound were marginal by 2008 standards, even worse today, but for a server, maybe they are OK? You will see numerous drivers for optional graphics, sound and wireless cards, which are for the optional add on hardware HP supported on the M9300T. Use only relevant drivers for your system.
