Hello, I just changed my msi 290 to a Gigabyte R9 Fury and noticed that my cpu temps are much higher than before when running prime 95. They went from a highest of 87c to 94c in less than 2 minutes (i7-5820k). What's puzzling me is that the gpu is idle while running prime, so even if this gpu creates more heat around the case, it should not do it while idle, right?
My cpu cooler is a Phanteks ph-tc14pe, thank you for any help.

If you use the latest version of P95, then it isn't a serious issue because nothing else can get it that hot. I presume that you reinstalled the old GPU to ensure the new GPU really is causing the temperature increase? Does the old GPU extract hot air outside of the case while the new one does it inside? The inside of the case doesn't have to be much warmer to cause a CPU temperature increase.

Did some tests and it seems the new card vents the air inside the case so I need better airflow, even though the highest it got while playing the most CPU intensive games I have (Witcher 3 and Project Cars) was 84c and 74c with the side panel off. It's pretty hot where I live so I am not too worried about those temps, thanks a bunch.

I really don't think so, problem is I have an Antec Three Hundred Two case and the Phantek Cooler is Huge, I actually regret buying it a little, it works great but it's made for full tower cases. I will probably just use the computer with the side panel off while gaming, until I get a new cooler or case.

No, just the small back fan and a big fan on the top of the case, would front fans be worth it? Also I had to put the CPU cooler with the fans on a vertical position as that was the only way they would fit, don't know if that makes the problem with the airflow worse.

I presume the CPU cooler air flow is towards the top of the case? If so, then it's good because warm air rises, but a negative is that it also pulls warm air from the GPU area which isn't ideal. If I were you I'd add the front fans to increase airflow through the case. I don't have that issue with mine since I use it as a server and no GPU is installed.
