Radeon Settings crashes every time... Don't know what to do. Tried the trick where you make users hidden then reverse it, tried updating windows, tried drivers 16.4.1 and 16.3.2(current).

I just re-installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on a brand new SSD so this is really frustrating. My asus vg248qe is being recognized as generic PnP so I can't go past 60hz, I need the radeon control panel.

Specs
-win 7 x64 ultimate
-gigabyte 990fxa-ud3
-FX-8350
-R9 280x XFX
-8gb ddr3 1600mhz

That's strange though, the driver didn't warn you about not meeting the requirements? If it didn't, could you please report the issue in a detailed account to AMD so this doesn't happen to someone else. The driver should not let you install if you don't meet the software prerequisites.

Well I haven't changed anything to do with the graphics card. I didn't touch it or the pci-e wires. I opened up the case and swapped the old raptor for an ssd. I should not be getting this error... Should I check my other drives for remnants of AMD stuff? There shouldn't be since I obviously always installed drivers to the boot drive...

Correct, that shouldn't' be an issue. To make sure that you don't have an issue with your driver install, run Display Driver Uninstaller (Free utility, google it) and then re-install your drivers.

Right after I write a detailed report to Toms Hardware about picking my own answer as the solution! I granted it to you since that is good advice, doing so right now.
