Is my CPU dead or my motherboard?

Hello guys,

Yesterday I made a front panel with a voltage meter and a couple of led strips, but I made a mistake in wiring and it short-circuited my computer.
I turned it off immediately and disconnected my panel, booted it back up and saw my pcei GPU and wireless network card were not responding.
I tested everything I could test on my brothers system.
For short: my GPU, psu, memory are fine so I suspect it is my mobo OR my CPU, the guy from the store says a CPU is tough and doesn't brake so easily, what are your thoughts, tips and experiences?

Solution
I hope your motherboard is a GA-970A-UD3 or UD3P, anything else may have issues running that overclocked processor.

The only other check would be to move your CPU to another system and see if it works there.

Your CPU is better protected. The mistake you made is much more likely to have damaged part of your motherboard. You did the right thing by checking the parts on your brother's system. What motherboard?

My setup looks like this:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A AM3+
CPU: AMD FX-8320 4ghz OC
Graphics Card:Gigabyte R9 380 OC
Memory: 16GB DDR3 Kingston FURY

It's a 60€ mobo, lucky my 300€ gpu didn't brake :D
