RAM memory compatibility

Solution
It should do, but if your worried.

Simply pull a stick of the existing memory you have in the system.
Take note of the speed it runs at, the latency/ timing values, and the voltage of the ram stick.

Most websites should quote the specs of the ram for the speed, latency/ timing values and voltage of the ram.
If the settings match then a set of 2x 4 Gb sticks will work with a single 8Gb module.

To be honest it`s more Ideal if you had four x 4GB sticks.

As the result will dive you dual channel memory mode if you have four memory slots on your motherboard.

With the 2 x 4Gb sticks and the single 8Gb memory module it will force the motherboard to work in single channel memory mode.

There is a slight advantage to running memory in a dual channel configuration, than running memory in a single channel memory mode.

But the configuration would work of 2 x 4 Gb memory sticks and a single memory stick of 8 Gb capacity.

Check your motherboard manual if you still have it to confirm the amount of ram modules will work with the motherboard you have though if you can.

Some motherboards can be picky on where each memory module is placed in the memory slots of the motherboard, and in what order.

Solution

They will work at 1600 and on the highest common timings.
But you'd be better off buying anothe 2x4 kit(preferably identical to the one you have) so you may continue to use dual channel
