Dear community,

I'm building a new gaming PC and I'm still searching for the right graphics card.

For now, I'd go with the Sapphire R390 Nitro:
It's not too expensive and reviewed to be the quietest R390 model (max. 37dB).

However, I read a lot about the high heat and feat, that my airflow is too bad for the card:

  • ■ AIO watercooled CPU at the rear
    ■ PSU at the rear bottom
    ■ 2x 140mm fans in the front
    ■ in a silence case (Fractal Design Define R5)
(I don't want to use water cooling for the graphics card, as I don't believe in my skills as plumber)

An alternative that I can see is a GTX 970, which can be slightly cheaper and will be slightly less powerful but will get less hot and consume fewer power.
I picked the Gainward GTX 970 Phoenix, where these statements apply.

Given my preference of silence, which of the both cards should I install?
Is there another R390 or GTX 970 model you could recommend?
Which models of other GPUs could you recommend?

Cheers, Sebastian

Thanks for your suggestion.
The 970 G1 seems to be an interesting cards with a good noise level.
Unfortunately it's as expensive as the 390, which seems unreasonable to me, considering the VRAM issues and the performance loss. It will be a hard choice.

Why should I buy a Seasonic PSU? What would be the benefits, compared to the be quiet! PSU?

Okay :)

Though the MSI Gaming 4G sounds good as well, I think I'll go for the G1 indeed.
But what do you mean by waiting for Pascal? Do you mean I should wait for the price drop when the GTX 1000 series is released?

I still don't get it, but this might be related to my limited english skills :D

Anyway, thank you very much for your suggestion!
I ordered the G1 and I hope that its length is below 310mm, as stated by the GIGABYTE website and denied by some reviews. It looks like a very promising and quiet card.
