Howdy Folks, im in Canada and if possible i would like to build something on 1500$ - 2000$ MAX. im far from a enthusiast on PC i just want something that will last me 4-6 years wihtout upgrading from scratch again. im not looking for 1440p gaming nor 4k. my current pc is : AMD A10-5800k APU, AMD HD 7850 1GB, 8GB RAM,and SSD. im playing most of all AAA game and most MMO currently on low/med settting OK-ish. but newer game like Star Citizen. Cameloth Unchained, Black Desert Online, CrowFall, The Division, i want my PC to run it with Decent FPS and having a nice time while im playing and not lagging and breaking out immersion because graphic are just discusting. im not a content creator nor a streamer / youtuber. only a gamer who enjoy playing on is free time.. i was wondering between a i5-6600k or i7-6700k, GTX 970 / r9 390 , and 16gb RAM. like i said i dont want to re-do all this again in 3 years. if possible i want my CPU to Last me 4-7years. i will maybe upgrade GPU later but for now i want something that will last me A LONG TIME. if you have any suggestion or idea please do. everything is appreaciated.

Hello,

Your CPU isn't the worst, but I would start by upgrading the graphics card. Due to the fact that you're going to be playing at 1080p, buy a R9 390, or the GTX 970, depending on which is cheaper, with a good cooler. One of my older machines is upgraded, it's using a A8 5500 CPU, R9 380, and I'm playing games at 2.5k and 4k just fine.

The reason some benchmarks may throw you off, is because they enable all the eye candy, and all the AA in the world, to push the cards, otherwise they would have to do the tests twice. If you're using a 1080 60 monitor, or even 1080 75 monitor, you will be absolutely fine with your current CPU.

I always tell people that are in the wrong mindset like yourself, to first try upgrade, then find out what you really need, never the other way around. Do you know the make & model # of the power supply you're using?

All the best!
