Upgrading my Alienware x51 r2 and need some help/tips, I recently purchased 250 gb of samsung ssd and 16gb of Fury HyperX ram, from my previous 6gb. I have the the core i3 model of the R2. In the future I am planning to move the components to a new case. Then upgrade it with these specs, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FXRmcf. also instead of the case in the link above, I was thinking about the rvz01 case. I also have a GTX 745 which is not good at all, my opinion. please tell me if this is a good idea and what I should change. Thanks!

You're getting a new mb and new ram to fit around a $110 cpu. It doesn't make sense, like I said, when for the same price you could get current gen hardware, on top of a new, better cpu. But if you really, really want to save on costs, then that's fine as well as haswell is so close to skylake in performance you won't tell a difference when playing any game.

If you are going down that route, then this would be way better for the same money:

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($18.88 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($87.75 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX...

If you must keep the i3, then it isn't a terrible build.

But really, you shouldn't base your build around one part that only costs around $110. If you're going to be building a new pc, you can get the latest gen parts for the same prices you have listed in that build.
