I am building a 1080p gaming PC with a large budget of $2000. I want to take full advantage of the 144hz monitor. I plan to overclock the i5 to 4.5ghz. Not too much else to say. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I disagree. A single 980 Ti is not suitable for 4K if you care about 60 FPS gameplay. The OP stated that they want a 144Hz monitor. That means they are also shooting for 144 FPS. I don't think a 980 Ti is overkill if you want that kind of framerate on modern games without lowering settings.

To be honest, I personally would much rather have a 1440p monitor than a 1080p 144Hz monitor. I can much more easily see the difference that extra resolution makes than I can see the difference in framerates over 60 FPS. Thank you. I'm considering 1440p, do you have any monitor recommendations (any hz) around $200-$350?

It looks great. I haven't seen any ghosting or any other major problems with it. The size is also perfect for me. It's big enough to be able to appreciate the extra resolution without being too big for my gaming space.
