My game fps is jumping around 120-160 while ingame, with a 144 hz monitor those drops are noticable and extremely annoying. There are people I know with similar pc specs that get 300-400 stable fps. Ive tried alot of things but cant seem to increase my fps.

Specs are:

Gtx 970
I5 4690k
crucial ballistix sport 8gb ddr3 1866
Msi z97 gaming 5

Full virus + malware scan.
cc scan
Driverbooster
Nvidia settings to performance
All counterstrike graphics to low

When going into power options and setting it to Performance instead of balanced my entire pc slows down. And my fps in game drops to 30 for some reason.

Hope to hear if someone has some kind of solution!

It definitely sounds like something is up. What resolution are you playing...

It definitely sounds like something is up. What resolution are you playing at? What kind of framerate do you get with maxed settings?

I suggest letting HWInfo run while you play for a while. For your CPU keep track of the average clock speed, average core load percentage, and average temperature. Also keep track of the GPU's average core usage and temperature.

4:3 now 16:9 about the same fps. Set everything on high, started up a deathmatch and my game crashed before joining the game :/ Wow what the fuck. Tried again on everything HIGH and it appears my fps is stableish around 290 with sporadic drops to 190. This is really strange

Aspect ratio (16:9) is different than resolution (1920x1080). 1920x1080 and 1280x720 resolutions are both 16:9 but 1280x720 requires less pixels to be drawn and less work for your GPU.

You should have no problem playing at 1920x1080 (1080p) resolution with max settings while staying over 144 FPS.

Seeing 290 FPS with dips to 190 sounds much more normal to me. If this is what you are seeing with max settings I would leave it alone. I'm not sure why you are getting worse performance with low settings than high though.

4:3 1280 960 (Stretched) 16:9 1920 1024.

Btw I found the issue. It was the *multicore rendering* option. The text said that enabling it would decrease framerate for smoother grahpics. But it did the opposite thing for me. My graphics are now on low with 350 stable fps. Thanks for your help, wouldnd have found it without you!
