Will SteamOS games work on Ubuntu?

I have been running an Ubuntu rig for a while and am currently using Ubuntu 14.04. I'm an avid gamer and am looking for new games. Recently I saw Subnautica which claims to be available for SteamOS, Windows, and Mac. Does SteamOS symbol mean it will work for Ubuntu? Help and clarification please.

Subnautica is not available as a native Linux game. You could try using Wine to run it - people's results seem to vary and there is no guarantee of success.

Not all games available on Steam will run on Linux; those that do will say so.
