Difficult Problem: Desktop boots up for 3-4 secs, shuts down, then repeats this cycle by itself non-stop.

From the very start, the computer would reboot when I would leave it on overnight. I didn't think much of it even when I gamed on the PC for 6+ hrs in one sitting, which was a big mistake on my part. Now recently, the desktop is shutting down very frequently and I was getting the message: "Power supply surges deteched during the previous power on. ASUS Anti-Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit!"

I did not think my PSU was the issue given the $300+ I spent on it, so I looked for other solutions. One solution on this forum noted that updating the BIOS solved a similar issue, so I gave it a try. I used the EZ flash utility to update the BIOS to v1702 for the Asus A170-z motherboard. The initial update finished; after an auto restart, the desktop showed a screen that said "Do not turn off the desktop... bios is updating" (something along those lines). During this message, the desktop shutoff, rebooted after 1-2 seconds, entered this message again, then shutoff again -- with this cycle now repeating.

No idea what to do at this point and would greatly appreciate any help.

Solution
check if your mobo has a dual bios if not you bricked your mobo and you could try ^^^^ or get a new mobo. i would also get a new psu.
