Hi we have a digital phone system at a main location and I am tasked to get our 2 remote locations to connect to our phone system via 3 IP phones (2 at 1 location and 1 at the other) thru a VPN at each remote location. I have a static IP at the main location and I have been told I do not need a static IP at the remote locations. Has anyone tried this with success? It looks like the internet source is blocking necessary ports but yet I called the internet source and they said they do not block ports. If anyone has any help I would appreciate it. Thanks

This is a fairly common setup. You really only need the central location to have public ip. Of course your call data will have to go though the central location since the 2 edge points can not form a direct vpn.

The VPN should be fairly straight forward. You build 2 point to point vpn and make sure you have the routing in the central node defined to send the lan subnet at each location down the corresponding vpn tunnel. The remote locations in the simplest design would have a default route pointed to the main site.

You of course must use non overlapping subnets at all the locations.

The phone networks would be setup as though you had direct connection between the locations, so you must program the phone system to translate...

The phone networks would be setup as though you had direct connection between the locations, so you must program the phone system to translate the dialed numbers to the proper IP addresses. The voice path if all goes well should go directly between the end stations even though technically it will go thought the router at the main site.

This obviously is not a beginner project since you must have a good understanding basic routing. VPN and VoIP are complex subject each on their own. You will get the best quality of voice using IPSEC, avoid sslvpn over tcp.
